I have HUGE trouble writing short; it's much harder than writing long.

Just use bullets & white space & EXTREMELY SHORT paragraphs as a functional substitute.

That way people will be able to pick up most of what you're saying.

Well, I created the page, but when I went to access and try some of that Twiki code.....

it said access denied!!!

I'm tired.

Oh, and BTW, I don't think I can follow the 50% less words guideline. I just don't have it in me.

I've just added more directions on the WikiHowTo page, as well as an attached Word document of most-used formatting tags (for boldface, italics, etc.) that downloads to your desktop when you click on it.

That's an excellent question!

It's one of the things we'll have to figure out (i.e., where the heck are we going to anchor these pages?)

Why don't you go ahead and try to start a new page from this page.

Just write a new comment (or edit the comment you've already put up here) and write in whatever you want your title to be.

Jakob Nielsen says to make titles VERY literal (a rule Carolyn and I have been breaking).

How about Anne Dwyer Singapore Math -- something like that (something people will be able to find easily if they have to use the search engine).

Write that in, and then see if you can follow the directions.

I would be interested in starting a new page on my class. I am even going to direct my parents to this wiki so that they can comment!!. But already I am having problems with the directions. It says type a bumpyword anywhere on the page. What page? One of the main pages that you and Carolyn write? Aren't those locked? Can you start it from a comments page? If you could clarify how I do this, I'll start the page and give you feedback on my first class.

WikiPagesForReadersAndCommenters

Carolyn and I have been thinking off and on about what kinds of pages KTM readers might like to be involved in. We haven't had too much time to brainstorm this, because we're still trying to figure out topic threads, organization, user features, etc., etc.

It's a lot of work!

However, it struck me just a couple of moments ago that AnneDwyer might like to start a page where she could keep a journal of observations about her Singapore Math summer class.

The rest of us could read, add in our own experiences with various curricula, ask questions, and so on.

Other parents might want to start their own pages detailing their own experiences teaching their kids, or add their experiences to a section on Anne's page.

(Carolyn & I will have to figure out how to index these pages so they're findable....)

I know Carolyn and I would both like to see a page of 'reader recommendations,' books and materials KTM readers have had good luck using. (In fact, I plan to start collecting the various reader recommendations we've had so far myself.)
