Another from the TERC teacher:

I'd first like to say that I'm sorry, Bob and Mark, for the fact that you hold such an uninformed view of the Investigations program. It really sounds as though maybe your schools have not done a proper job of introducing the program to parents. It is in fact quite different from traditional textbook math. It looks different from what you and I were doing in elementary math. I strongly feel that if a school makes a switch, they need to share their reasoning and market the idea so that all stakeholders are aware and have the opportunity to make an informed judgement.

Sounds like a true, starry-eyed believer.

I think she needs to go out and buy a copy of "Getting your math message out to parents".

(And this is different from 'getting your religious message out to the people' exactly how?)

It's different, alright.

Look at her language here.

I strongly feel that if a school makes a switch, they need to share their reasoning and market the idea so that all stakeholders are aware and have the opportunity to make an informed judgement.

Administrators need to do 'marketing' so parents can make an 'informed' judgment.

This is Orwellian.

She is using language -- and this is harsh -- she is using language to lie.

There is no option here for the parent to make an informed judgment that TERC is a waste of time.

The parent has one possible informed judgment available to him, and that is to embrace TERC.

This woman is using the language of reason and debate to mask a truth concerning power and power relations.

A missionary does not lie, and a missionary, crucially, does not have the power to impose his religion on others.

A missionary must persuade others that his religion is true.

The person who is not persuaded will not convert, and that's the end of it.
