news from nowhere part 7

Christopher's school has a complicated schedule of A teams & B teams that splits the kids into two different lunch hours plus alternating days for Health, Music, Home Ec, Art, Technology, Drama and the like. They also rotate through 6-week Time Segments (I think it's 6 weeks). For one Time Segment, Team A takes technology while Team B takes music. Then they swap up when that Time Segment ends and the next Time Segment begins.

I've never sat down and committed the whole thing to memory, and I still can't tell you which Team Christopher is on, but he always seems to know which part of the calendar year he's in.

Last week was the end of the most recent Time Segment. The kids all knew it, but the Health teacher didn't. The Health teacher thought this week was the last week, so she didn't give them their test.

Now they can't take the test, because the next Time Segment has begun and they're no longer in her class.

I'm sure this kind of thing wouldn't happen if we had higher per-pupil spending.





update: wrong again

Back from haircuts. Christopher tells me that in fact this is the last week of the Health Time Segment, and he will be taking his test on Wednesday.

What was it I was saying about 11-year old boys being forgetful and disorganized and not knowing what they don't know?
