My math message is: Beware of math messages from teachers.

I still remember an open house at our public school on their use of MathLand. We parents sat in little kids chairs while she told us, using her first grade teacher voice, about how web sites like www.mathematicallycorrect.com do not know what they are talking about. She also explained how good it was for little Suzie and Johnnie to write down why 5 + 5 = 10 in third grade.

I wonder if these techniques are in the book.

Didn't somebody leave a comment yesterday about the teacher telling her daughter she'd have to do a better job explaining why addition is addition?
